Dreaming During an Indian Summer

"You are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream" - C.S. Lewis

Both Adam and I are artists - creatives. Sometimes having a short attention span, and at other times becoming intensely focused. We are organized... in our own way. And we are both wildly different than the other. For us to both stay on the same page, it requires a lot of work. All that said, we've have started a new weekly regime. Every Sunday we sit down to brainstorm. Recently we've been enjoying this past time poolside - thank you California weather! Last week we employed the help of a tasty little cocktail that really got our brainstorming rolling (recipe below)!

It's in these hours that we plan out our week and set goals for the future. We plan all our meals for the week and make a shopping list. We talk about ideas, and dream about future endeavors. We physically write down all these ideas so that when we start to get distracted, we've got something to pull us back. No idea is off the table. Sometimes our talks are focused on one idea and other times we talk about a slew of random thoughts. A good portion of our ideas begin with three small words, "can you imagine...". Can you imagine if our business reached this goal, can you imagine riding around italy on vespas, can you imagine what a photo session like this would be like, can you imagine...

These weekly sit downs are a time for us to imagine, dream, plan. For the two of us to stay on the same page. And it's incredible how much it's helped. As a matter of fact, two weeks ago we missed our Sunday dream day and the whole week was off. Dinner rolled around, "what's for dinner?", most couples know what comes next - "I don't know. What do you want?" "I don't care, whatever is fine." (AHHH!!). And while we both stayed busy doing "things", we weren't motivated. We were doing things because they needed to be done, not because those things lead to obtaining a goal. Missing our Sunday talks is not a good start to the week!

I encourage you to spend time every week (every day if you need to), dreaming. Setting goals. Looking for inspiration in the things around you. Don't stay busy just to be busy. Know where you're going before you start the journey.  It's Monday people, let's make this week count! Peace and Love!
